Paragraph

The video I choose was Barack Obama's Promises Kept, I chose this video because it really stood out to me than the other videos. This video was about Barack given his nomination speech back in 2008. I found this very interesting because throughout the video it showed everything that he promised that he had accomplished. The music in the video fit the video ever so perfectly, uplifting in the right spots, it was great. The style of the video was really great to, it was very fluid and it seemed to just flow ever so smoothly, it felt like I wasn't watching a campaign video, but a movie in theaters, which I thought was great rhetoric because everybody gets burnt out on politics, so they incorporated into a movie feeling to get rid of the politics feeling, but at the same time, also giving people politics. This video was by far the best one that I saw, and I really liked it.

Visual Analysis Questions

  • 1) What visual elements grab your attention first?

The visual elements that grabbed my attention first, was Barack Obama standing behind
the stage, looking like any normal person who is getting ready for a speech, it stood out to me because its a very good rhetoric strategy, because it showed that he is exactly as us, also the music was non, existent, any sounds to be particular, which added dramatic effect.

    2) What other details reinforce that impression? How?

Other details that reinforce this statement, was how he wanted to grab every ones attention, and it did so, he started the video by saying, i will accept your nomination for presidency, which surely grabbed peoples attention, also the music was quite uplifting, which was a great contrast.

3.) What is more important? Less important?

What's very important in this video, was all the things Obama had planned in 2008 that he would do as president, and throughout the video it showed everything that he did, what was less important was probably nothing about the video, it was really well made, that it focused on what he did, and how they incorporated into a speech that he did years ago.

4.) What about color and style? What impact do they have on your impressions?

The color of the video was bright and uplifting, they really chose great colors to be used throughout the video, the style of the video was very fluid and I really enjoyed it.

5.) How does the image direct the viewer’s eyes and reinforce what is important?

It did so in a very unique way, they incorporated his speech he did from years ago into a video, showing pictures of all that he has done, which I thought was a great reinforcer.

6.) What text is included? How does the text relate to the image?

The text included fit the video very perfectly, reinforcing everything you should and wanted to see.

7.) What argument is being made?

The argument being made was to make you want to choose Obama, which the video did so well. They showed everything that he promised and did into one video.

Plagiarism Lines Blur for Students in Digital Age Précis

In the article Plagiarism Lines Blur for Students in Digital Age by Trip Gabriel explains how easy it is plagiarism is now days. The author supports this by explaining the accessibility of copy and pasting on the computers and Internet. The authors purpose is to explain why people plagiarize and he uses this in order to inform students that plagiarism is bad. I feel that the purpose of the article was to help inform students on how to make sure you don't own the source, you need to give the right credit.

"Why Aren't We Comedians?"

When I was looking for a picture to visually analyze, this one stood out the most. This picture stood out the most because it was different than all the others on the page. The first thing that grabbed my attention was the face. The face was a bugged eyed, inflautuated person with starry glazed twinkled eyes. Then the saying took my attetnion next. After analyzing the picture more I noticed that the important parts of this picture were the saying in black and the face. I say this because you can read the black saying, then you start to think about your best friend and then you see you the face and you have you remmeber a memory that you shared with your best friend. Even though the red says "why the hell aren't we comedians" it can mean many other things to different people. To me it reminds me when me and my buddy are playing CoD Black Ops Zombies and we are doing great and we have excellent teamwork, and we look at each other and think, why isn't there a zombie apocylpase cause right now, we would be surviving. The way the face is placed is great for visual looking. Our eyes automatically look to the right first and it make sense for this picture. The arugement being made here is that you and your best freind will always have memories that you will always cherish and this picture might remind you of it.

Analyzing Visual

The first thing that grabbed my attention in the videos were the music. Romney's music was a bit more happier sounding and had a more upbeat tone. Obama's music was really sad a depressing, and it made you think of the poor people out there scraping by. The rest of Romney's video the music got even happier and his video got happier, along with the stories he told and the interviews. Obama's video stayed at  a very sad tone and the clips they used were darker looking pictures. The important things that stuck out of these videos were the message. Romney's message was to show that he can make things happier and shows his commitment with his marriage. Obama's message was to show that he is working hard and he shows what he has done that was good and bad, and what he will do to see his plans through. The colors of Romney's video were more lively than Obama's. A lot of Obama's were darker and more calmer, while Romney's had fireworks and was a lot more energetic.

Ann Romney and Michelle Obama Speech

The two speeches that we watched were not very powerful speeches, but emotional speeches. When I say powerful I mean by using ethos, logos and pathos. There speeches were almost exactly the same. They both used a lot of pathos, and hardly any ethos or logos. The only credibility they had in there speeches were themselves or there husbands. They had no logos either. Ann said one thing that gave some logos, but other than that, nothing. Now I say they were emotional speeches because they used a lot of pathos. Both of the speeches spoke about love and family and how there husbands are great family man. There speeches were super emotional and that aroused the crowd in various ways. It was probably hard to watch Ann's speech if your for Obama and it was probably hard to watch Michelle's speech if you were for Romney, so I think people can be biased in these speeches. All in all, I believe that the speeches were very emotional, but not powerful enough. Maybe if they had more ethos and logos, these speeches would be way more powerful.

"The Web Means The End of Forgetting"

The title of this article pretty much explains it all. "The Web Means The End of Forgetting" sounds very scary and it is very scary because it is true. Throughout the entire article, the author kept on showing examples of how things are never erased. The author even went as far as to mention web deleting companies in this article to further prove this. I wanted to see if it was true, of course I believed him because of all the people he mentioned, but I wanted to try it. I Googled myself, and since Google now can find you location, it looked for Cody Martinez  in Pueblo pictures. What I found were pictures of me from the paper, my FaceBook, and even some pictures of my friends that I have on FaceBook. It seems to be very true that the Internet doesn't forget. That scares many people. But, there are people out there that are trying to look out for, the companies and places that the author cites, but the best protection out there is to not post anything that you wouldn't want people to see. I hope in the future, the Internet will forget everything and people will not be afraid of the Internet.
